“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”
On the night that Jesus was betrayed, He offered His longest recorded prayer. Toward the end of this prayer, He spoke directly about you and me; that His longing was not just for His immediate followers, but for all who would come to know Him. It’s amazing to think that we were on His mind that night! His prayer was that we would come to faith and be an example to others so they may know His grace too.
As we approach Easter together, who is God putting on your mind? How can you utilize this Easter to invite a person you are spiritually investing in [your “two”] who has not yet surrendered to Jesus?
Gracious Father, I pray that your Spirit would work in [name of person]'s life to make [him or her] recognize they are spiritually bankrupt without you. Give me boldness to talk about your Son in a way that would make sense to them, and I ask in faith that you will give them a desire to join me in church this weekend. Amen.
