Theme: reNEWed (2 Corinthians 5:16-21)
Date: June 9
Time: Friday at 7 pm
Location: Grace Fellowship – Pickerington Campus
2 Corinthians 5:16-21 says:
“So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
“The old has gone, the new is here!” It’s through God’s grace that we are made new…but what does that mean as a woman, as yourself right where you are? At reNEWed, we will have the opportunity to dive into who we are as new creations in Jesus. Through this discussion, we’ll touch upon three main points:
- What’s my identity in Jesus?
- How do I renew my mind as a new creation?
- We are called to reconcile others to Jesus and be ambassadors – what does this mean/look like?
Throughout the evening, we’ll take time to dive into scripture, hear from women about being reNEWed in Christ, discuss applicable ways to live a Jesus-centered life as His ambassador and take time to personally reflect upon what this looks like in your individual journey. We’ll also have an opportunity to unwind and connect with new and old friends alike.
Space is limited, and registrations will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. Registration closes on June 7 – no “day of” registration will be available.
6:15 pm – Doors open (check-in, get your nametag and program and grab a seat!)
7 pm – reNEWed begins
10 pm – reNEWed ends (but you can stick around for food, fun and unorganized fellowship in the Lobby!)
11 pm – Church doors close (you don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here)
Registration is $8 and includes snacks/light dessert. Part of your registration will also go towards bringing clean water to families overseas.
How It Will Work
We’ll hear from Main Speaker Beckie Farrant, who will kick off the event and set the tone for our evening. After our main session, we’ll break into four different groups. Each group will have its own “main speaker,” but the same topics will be discussed.
NOTE: When registering, you’ll have an opportunity to select your group speaker. Please know that we will do all that we can to accommodate your selection, but registration is accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Beckie Farrant (Main Speaker): Beckie is wife to Executive Pastor Tim and mom to Isaac (age 9) and Kayla (age 7). She is a self-professed “hot mess” and grateful for a redeeming God who isn’t afraid to dive deep into those trenches with her. Beckie is passionate about chocolate, date nights, being knee deep in home improvement projects and equipping women in their giftedness. She has lived in six states, is currently crushing on the color coral and loves texting with emojis.
Daidree Westbrook (Breakout Speaker): Daidree has been attending Grace for about three years and has been leading a Grace Group with her husband for a little over two years. She has been married for 19 years and has two children – an 18-year-old son and 17-year-old daughter. She has been saved for about 19 years when she re-dedicated her life to the Lord after being the prodigal daughter for most of her teenage years. She now serves God whole heartedly and doesn’t mind being radical and bold for the truth!
Julia Towell (Breakout Speaker): Julia is a disciple of Jesus, wife of ten years to her favorite person, and chronic over-thinker. She and her husband have five kiddos: three via biology, and two adopted via foster care. (Though, for the life of them, they can’t remember which ones are which😉.) With kids ages 7, 4, 2 ½, 1 ½ and 13 months, she is sure she had hobbies at one point, but currently she is a pro at changing diapers, breaking up toddler fights and singing songs that include motions. She does enjoy decorating and reading in her free moments, though her unread book stack and half-painted rooms would tell you there aren’t much of those lately.
Courtney Shaver (Breakout Speaker): Courtney Shaver is from Columbus, OH, and is a junior in nursing school. She is currently engaged and soon-to-be-married to Pastor Jake McCullough at the end of July. Amidst school, work and wedding planning, she owns a small calligraphy business and regularly leads worship, holds babies and mentors young women at Grace’s Upper Arlington Campus. She enjoys learning and listening and loves to take part in any opportunity to pass that on to others!
Lisa M. Stevens (Breakout Speaker): Lisa is from Ashville, OH, and has been married to her husband, Vic, for 32 years. They have four adult children, two granddaughters and a grandson on the way (her grandchildren call her “Lolli” and her husband “Pop” so together they’re “Lollipop”)! Lisa says her life theme is “All About that Grace, ‘bout that Grace – No Devil!” She has a passion for teaching the Bible verse by verse and is known for teaching deep truths and doctrines of the Bible in simple (and often hilarious ways) so everyone can understand and enjoy.
