Ephesians Summer Devotional | Day 4

SARAH MCCLELLAN   -

Thursday – God’s Revealed Plan

Written by Sarah McClellan (Lithopolis Campus)

Ephesians 1:9–10
Key Verse: “He made known to us the mystery of his will… to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.” (v. 9–10)

In life, there are two types of people – those who plan, and those who go with the flow. I am a planner. In addition to my full-time job (where I do a high level of planning), I’m also a personal assistant to three lovely people (who call me wife and mom), which also includes a very high level of planning. As a result, I create the plan, internalize it, inform everyone involved, rally the troops, and then execute it. Going with the flow is not in my comfort zone (although I’m getting better!). But God….

Life can feel disjointed – like a puzzle missing pieces. It’s easy to wonder if there’s a plan behind the chaos. But Paul assures us that God has a plan, and it’s no longer a mystery: everything is being brought together under Christ. Jesus isn’t just the center of your story – He’s the center of all of history. God is weaving together the broken pieces of heaven and earth, restoring what sin shattered, and the outcome is already secured.

When we understand that Christ is the unifying force of all creation, it changes how we live today. It reminds us that our story fits into something far bigger than ourselves. God’s not winging it. He’s actively working toward unity, restoration, and renewal – and we get to be part of that plan. So when life feels fractured or confusing, remember: God’s will has been revealed in Jesus, and in Him, all things – including you – are being made whole.

Reflection Questions:

  1. When life feels chaotic or uncertain, do you find yourself trusting God’s plan—or trying to control the outcome yourself?
  2. What areas of your life currently feel disjointed or confusing?
  3. How does knowing that Jesus is the center of all of history – not just your story – shape your perspective on daily challenges and decisions?

Prayer Prompt:

Repeat: “God, thank You for choosing me, blessing me, and calling me Your child—help me live secure in Your love today.
