Tuesday – The Grace to Share
Written by Tricia Fourman (Jefferson Campus)
Ephesians 3:7-9
Key Verse:
“I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of his power.”
Think of a time in your life when you felt completely unworthy or inadequate for a challenge you were facing. Perhaps it was taking on a new responsibility at work, living on your own for the first time, or becoming a new parent. Or maybe it was a child asking you a question about the Bible, a coworker challenging your faith, or a conversation with someone who has never heard the name of Jesus. I’m sure it felt overwhelming, confusing, uncertain, or even scary. Some people call this impostor syndrome. You are not alone in these feelings!
Paul saw himself as the “least of all the Lord’s people,” yet God called him to proclaim the greatest message ever given, the boundless riches of Christ. This isn’t just humility. It’s awe. Paul understood that God’s call is not based on our qualifications, but on His purpose and power. Like Paul we can’t be unqualified for this work, because we were never qualified to begin with.
Paul’s mission was to make known the mystery hidden for ages. This mystery was God’s eternal plan to bring salvation not just to Israel but to the entire world through Jesus. That mystery is now revealed in Jesus through the church, and it is our privilege to share it. Whether we feel qualified or not, God gives us the grace to carry His message. We are His plan A and there is no plan B. You are not an imposter, you are right where God wants you.
Reflection Questions:
- When you think about areas where you feel unqualified or inadequate, how might God be inviting you to trust in His strength rather than your own abilities?
- In your daily interactions with family, friends, coworkers, or neighbors, how are you currently participating in making this “mystery” known? What opportunities might you be overlooking to share God’s love in both words and actions?
- When you think about the opportunities in your life, are you more likely to see them as happenstance or divine appointment?
Prayer Prompt:
“God, help me embrace both my calling and my need for Your grace. Please provide opportunities to share Your boundless riches with someone who needs to hear about them.”
