M and K started attending Grace Fellowship in 2009 following the invitation of some friends. They served in over a dozen ministries during their time at Grace, always quick to go where the need was the largest. Their relationship with the Lord really grew in the presence of their first small group, who truly showed them the love of Christ. After the death of their first daughter, M & K realized that everything in this world can be taken from them except Jesus and their perspective shifted on what it meant for them to whole-heartedly serve the Lord. Their heart for discipleship continued to build as they led small groups in their home, witnessing the power in walking alongside people in the highs and lows of life. In 2016 God ignited a desire in them to make the gospel known among unreached people in areas where there were not currently workers.
“Every saved person this side of heaven owes the gospel to every lost person this side of hell.” David Platt
Spurred on by God’s desire for all nations to hear the good news of Jesus Christ.
Over the next eight years, they wrapped up their careers and obligations in the US. A short-term trip to North Africa unveiled a heart for the Muslim world. Now serving in one of the largest Muslim countries, M & K exist in secret as “retired English teachers.” The only way for the word to spread is through the same small groups that shaped them and underground movements. Ministry exists in the shadows due to safety concerns, but that does not stop what God is already doing among the people of their region!
Life and ministry for M & K consists of imbedding themselves in the native language and culture while coming alongside the hand full of believers that exist within their city of almost 1 million. They currently reside on the outskirts of their city where no workers or believers have been known to live, eager to carry the light of Christ as they navigate relationships with the community. God uses them “to spread the aroma of the knowledge of Him everywhere. For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.” (2 Corinthians 2:15).
Prayer Points:
- Longevity – more specifically visa procurement. Their country is difficult to obtain long term residency
- Their daughter, M – she is an only child learning to maneuver life in a country that is much different than her own. Pray for meaningful, local relationships to grow for this firefly in the darkness
- Safety – life in a restricted access country where being a Christian can be dangerous
- Movements – much of the Muslim world is experiencing movements to the Lord. Their country is yet to see progress.
